Scott passed his Private check-ride on March 31st, so congratulations to our newest Private Pilot!  Flying his own C172, affectionately aka “The Dirty Bird”, he completed his ride with examiner Daryl Smith at Groton, CT on the last day before his knowledge test expired and in the midst of the COV pandemic.  We all wish Scott lots of safe adventures as he enjoys his newfound freedom.   Well done and thanks to CFI Nick Drane for getting him across the finish line in the nick of time!

Despite being the coldest day of the year, the new oil heating pad that was installed last week on Kerry and Eric’s beautiful 1966 C172 Skyhawk did its job and Kerry took advantage of the cold, high pressure air and clear skies to complete her first solo landings.  She’ll now get to enjoy the snowscape scenery on her upcoming Cross Country adventures!  Congrats Kerry!

Doug earned his Private Pilot certificate on August 31, 2019.  After waiting a month for his reschedule date he passed a rigorous checkride with FAA examiner Daryl Smith in our Cherokee 140 on a beautiful but bumpy day.  The entire team at Norby Aviation enjoyed helping Doug reach his goal and watching him develop into a great pilot!  Perfect timing to enjoy some cross-country trips and New England Fall scenery as Pilot in Command.

Brian’s last session of landings was near perfect but he hadn’t completed the pre-solo written.  So we got that done first thing on a beautiful Wednesday morning and Brian followed through with a couple of smooth landings with Kevin who then got out for Brian to do three very nice ones Solo!    Brian soloed a C152 over 20 yaers ago but this time he’s going all the way to Private Pilot.

Congrats to Peter on his First Solo!  He performed a perfect low altitude Go-around on his first approach to help calm his nerves, then finished off with two smooth landings.  A great way to start the July 4th Holiday weekend off!

Examiner Daryl Smith congratulates Leo after a well executed check ride in our Cessna 150.  Leo’s enthusiasm, attitude, and thoughtful demeanor made a good impression, along with his excellent stick and rudder skills!  Now he’s able to give rides to his family and friends and explore all around New England and beyond.  Well done Leo!

Eric achieved his Private Pilot Certificate on March 9, 2019 after a flawless checkride with Examiner Daryl Smith.  The entire staff at Norby Aviation enjoyed helping Eric reach his goal and watching him grow into a great pilot!  Eric is now planning trips all over New England to explore his new freedom and build-up those cross-country hours.
